Steve Garrity began his career after a 4 year enlistment with the Navy in 1975 servicing Audio/Video gear eventually opening his own shop in Bowling Green, Ky. his home town. In 1979 Steve moved to Nashville to join the engineering maintenance staff of WTVF-TV. In early 1983 Steve joined the soon to be launched TNN as a video maintenance engineer. During Steve’s 18 year tenure with TNN he participated in many events such as Farm Aid, CMA, ACM awards, and Remote productions in Las Vegas, the Cayman Islands, and Gulf Shores Alabama to name a few. In the late 1980s Steve became the assistant maintenance supervisor with TNN supervising the day to day Audio and video maintenance and installation activities. In 1990 Steve was tapped to head up the newly formed IT group within TNN, beginning with two staffers and eventually a staff of 25 covering all facets of IT for TNN, CMT, Country.com, NASCAR Thunder (a retail chain), Z Music, CMT Europe, CMT Latin America and CMT Pacific Rim. Steve’s work included custom playout systems for the international CMT channels, custom software for the operation of various broadcast and non-broadcast operations, the design and development of a multi-million dollar web site, Country.com, acquisition and support of Silicon Graphics high end graphics workstations and much more.
With the departure of TNN from Nashville Steve joined MCSI Corporation which eventually morphed into Technical Innovation locally, an A/V business focusing on commercial, educational and military systems. Steve initially served as a project manager and the primary video conferencing specialist, later he was promoted to Manager of Engineering Services where he lead his team through multiple major projects including custom field deployable systems used by the Army in Iraq.
Steve joined the Durrell team in June 2006 as Director of Engineering Services. He was immediately immersed in managing the re-vamping of the Cleveland Browns Stadium Sound system. This multi-million dollar project, already underway, involved the replacement of amplifiers, processing and speakers related to the stadium itself. Steve also manages the Sommet Center (GEC) account where Durrell is the in-house Audio systems sub-contractor as well as A/V rentals. Steve looks forward to driving Durrell’s successes through technical superiority and unparalleled customer service.
